This ulcer is situated in the duodenum coming after the stomach. The ulcer that occurs in the stomach is called a peptic ulcer. They are are both an erosion of the mucosal tissue of the stomach or duodenum. They may be without symptoms or present as gas, bloating and pain. The question is do sensations get better or worse from eating? They are most commonly caused by excess use of NSAID and/or Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and can be treated with drugs or life-style adaptations with which Dr. Heathir can help you.
This condition is the involuntary return of stomach contents to throat or mouth. This occurs when the lower esophageal sphincter inappropriately opens allowing regurgitation. You know the symptoms as heartburn and indigestion. Causations include Hiatal hernia, vomiting, obesity, pregnancy, aging. Left untreated or undiagnosed, this unfortunately can worsen.
It is a sensation of burning/pressure/pain behind the sternum. This rises through the neck/throat and often leaving an acidic/bitter food taste in the mouth. It is a symptom of acid reflux/ GERD. Timing is more likely to follow a meal, although not associated with physical activity. Usually lasts up to 2 hours and can be experienced by all ages, including infants. Common side effects are acid reflux, sour mouth, hoarseness, dry cough, difficulty swallowing. Left untreated the condition may worsen. I am available to help you to address this.
This is Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth. Its definition is “excessive concentrations of colonic bacteria (exceeding 100,000 microorganisms per mL) within the small intestines” (Medical Dictionary). This means that the bacteria of the small intestines has been largely taken over by those from the large intestine. This may cause malabsorption resulting in abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea. This is an erosion of the mucosal tissue that lines your stomach. It is a cousin to the Duodenal Ulcer. They can exist together. OUCH! It is essential to diagnose and treat them in order to avoid complications from their advancement. See Duodenal Ulcer.
